Dreaming of Ayutthaya

The train from Bangkok to Ayutthaya is about a 2 1/2 hour ride which costs about ‎60‎฿ (baht) or the equivalent of $1.70 USD. Scattered along the tracks are people living in shacks made from vinyl advertising banners and left over construction materials. Many of them, including children sell food and crafts to the riders at each stop as they wander through the train with their goods. This man was sitting across from me in the 2nd class car. I chose to ride 2nd class because of the cheap fair but also wanted to experience the local culture and their modes of transport.
